Statement The Breathing Room is an inter-dimensional waiting room between our known world and a place of mystery. You've been here before while deliberating over a courtship or a breakup, anticipating travel plans, or apprehensively awaiting a doctor's appointment. Sometimes admittance beyond this interstitial room is swift, other times we wait interminably. Or perhaps we exercise our agency to facilitate our own initiation, exchanging a role of passivity for engagement.
Bio Travis Nikolai is a Portland artist and 2014 MFA in Visual Studies candidate at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. He completed his BFA, emphasizing painting and drawing, in 2010 at the University of Utah.
