Description This work uses nest imagery to examine notions of home, sexuality, and private versus public space. These interactive fiber sculptures call into question the expectations typically surrounding ‘the nest’ by encouraging viewers to literally sit down and roost.
Bio Portia Roy was born in Augusta, Georgia. In 2011 she received her BFA in Intermedia with a focus on sculpture and animation at Pacific Northwest College of Art. Roy primarily works in soft sculpture and explores themes of gender, consumerism, and ritual.
